T is for Taverna Opa

Taverna Opa, one of International Drive’s famed restaurants, found on the second level of Pointe Orlando. This Greek food fantasy came to us straight out of Miami. The food is authentic, the atmosphere is lively, and the location is pure perfection. With belly dancers swishing throughout the main dining room, and frequent confetti storms of napkins in the air, Taverna Opa is more than a restaurant, it is an experience. Winner of the Orlando Foodie Award for Best Greek Restaurant, the experience of Taverna Opa is sure to please all of your senses.

Taverna Opa’s Creta Private Room is perfect for engagement parties or rehearsal dinners. Spacious enough to seat up to 100 guests, and is the only part of the restaurant that is soundproof. Their Elios Covered patio can also be used for special occasions, as well as their Mythos Bar. Taverna Opa has something to accommodate any size party and with service as great as theirs, it is sure to provide a fun night for all involved. Opa!

Michele Butler Events Fab Five Trends for January!

It’s a new year with a whole lot of new hot trends. These are some of the top trends for the new year.

1. Mix and Match Centerpieces – who says they all have to be the same? Create some texture to your reception with centerpieces that aren’t all the same. Some can be statuesque while others are lower to the table. This creates a stunning effect in any room, plus it can help lower your budget since centerpieces that are lower to the table are also typically lower in price. Another idea is to use antique vases or containers for your centerpieces. Each centerpiece can be unique at its base with the same color palate of floral adorning the tops, creating a unique yet cohesive look.

2. Add a splash of color to your bridal attire… with some spectacular shoes! – Who said that your shoes have to be ivory or white to match your dress? Do you have a fabulous pair of shoes in a vibrant color? Why not use those for your walk down the aisle? Adding a splash of color through your shoes can be a subtle yet sassy addition since most people won’t see your shoes unless you make an effort to show them.

3. Pink and Poppy - perfect palate for a sassy shower. The combination of pinks and hues of reds can add a springtime look during the winter months. Brighten your bridal shower with these tones whether it be through décor, food, or favors.

4. The Roaring ’20s -  pale pinks, lacy gowns and underground speakeasy vibe…The Roaring 20s are back and ready to be featured in your big day! With stunning lacy gowns and touches of pale pink using this era as inspiration for your event will be sure to leave your guests wanting more.

5. His and Her details for your reception – Brandy or beer bars for him and a martini lounge for her, after all this day is all about the two of you, so why not have special his and her touches to add excitement to the evening.

Top 3 Bridal Resolutions to Stick to

Happy New Year from Michele Butler Events! We have all heard of resolutions that are inspirational for the new year, and maybe even come up with a few of our own for 2011, but will we stick to them? Here are a few resolutions that every bride should stick to!

1. Set aside time for your future hubby – Remember that the love that you share is the reason for the “big day”. Find time to keep your connection fresh. Whether it is by having date nights or just relaxing together, make sure to set aside some time for just the two of you that doesn’t involve guest lists or seating charts.

2. Don’t sweat the small stuff – let your planner do that! – A wedding planner can do much more than just recommend great vendors. They make sure that all of the details of your wedding day puzzle fit perfectly together. If there is something that you are worried about, talk to your planner, and let the worrying be done by her. The best part about having a wedding planner is that they sweat the small stuff for you so that your day can truly be the happiest of your life.

3. Healthy brides are happier brides – work out to release stress! – Working out is not only a healthy habit, it will make you happier. Go for a run, take an aerobics class, or just dance like no one is watching for twenty minutes in your living room. Whatever you choose to do, being active is a great way to release stress. It will also release endorphins in your brain which will bring an overall positive tone to your day. So get out there and work up a sweat, you will feel great and look even better in your wedding dress.
